State-Mandated CME Requirements:

State-Mandated CME Content Detail
Licensees must complete 40 total Continuing Medical Education hours each two-year renewal cycle. Twenty (20) of the continuing medical education hours must be AOA Category 1-A hours. Licensees are exempt from the general CME requirement for their first renewal cycle, but must complete the content-specific CME requirements.

One (1) live hour Florida Laws and Rules & Professional and Medical Ethics; 2 live Prevention of Medical Errors; 2 Prescribing Controlled Substances.

Two (2) credit hours addressing Domestic Violence every three renewal cycles (six years).

One-time requirements: One (1) CME addressing HIV/AIDs and 1 hour addressing Human Trafficking for first-time renewals whose license was issued. CME addressing Human Trafficking must be completed by July 1, 2021.
