     Biennial renewal by July 1 of odd-numbered years


State-Mandated CME Requirements:

State-Mandated CME Content Detail
Licensees must complete a minimum of forty 40 hours of AMA Category 1 continuing medical education (CME) every two-year renewal cycle, two hours of which must be in medical ethics, pain management and/or addiction care, and twenty hours of within the scope of practice or specialty.

Physicians who are registered to dispense controlled substances must complete two hours addressing Misuse and Abuse of Controlled Substances; Prescribing Opioids; or, Addiction.

At least two hours every four years must be on suicide detection, intervention and prevention.

CME requirements are prorated for physicians who received their initial licensed within the renewal cycle.
