A total of 240 Orthopaedic-related Category 1 CME of which 40 must qualify as Self-Assessment must be completed every 10-year MOC Cycle and distributed as described below. During the first three years, Diplomates must earn 120 Orthopaedic-related CME credits, with at least 20 of these credits from Self-Assessment Examinations (SAEs) or by participating in ABOS-approved practice improvement activities. An additional 120 Orthopaedic-related CME Credits, with at least 20 of these credits from SAE must have been completed at the time of registration for the recertification examination (year 7, 8, or 9) No additional CME requirements for maintenance of subspecialty certifications.
