Diplomates must complete 150 hours of AMA Category 1 Credits™ over each 5-year period (an average of 30 hours per year). Half of the CME (75 hours) must be in the broad category of cardiothoracic surgery.

In order to maintain a valid subspecialty certificate in Congenital Cardiac Surgery, at least half of the required 150 CME Credits must be specifically identified in clinical Congenital Cardiac Surgery, and up to half of the 150 CME Credits may be in the broad category of Cardiothoracic Surgery
