The New York Medical College/Our Lady of Mercy/Lincoln Surgical Residency combines a university affiliated community teaching hospital experience with an experience at a major municipal level I trauma center. As a relatively small program, the residents are able to develop a close working relationship with the faculty that lasts well beyond the completion of the program. Our program is unique in that it offers a research experience at the institution of the resident's choice within the New York metropolitan area. The resident's research experience has provided an understanding of research methods and the ability to critically read the literature. It has also enhanced our residents' ability to get the fellowship or the further residency training of their choice. In recent years our residents have had fellowships at the Mayo Clinic, New York Presbyterian, Memorial Sloan-Kettering, Westchester Medical Center, University of Louisville to name a few. Our gradutes now have faculty positions at Mount Sinai in New York, New York Medical College, East Carolina Medical School, Cornell and Temple.
