State-Mandated CME Content Detail
|
Every licensed physician shall complete a minimum of 60 credit hours in accredited CME course work during the period corresponding to each recertification triennium. Of the 60 CME, 50% must be earned in areas related to the licensee’s specialty, subspecialty, or certification in question.
Ten credit hours must be earned in the area of Disease Prevention and the promotion of health.
For physicians providing direct or indirect hospital emergency room services, 20 Credit hours must address Emergency Medicine, including courses in life support (CPR, ACLS, and PALS), emergency management, and the study of emergency medicine.
Licensees must also complete six credit hours addressing Bioethics and Professionalism.

General Regulations of Medical Licensure
Membership in the Puerto Rico College of Physicians and Surgeons is required for the practice of medicine in Puerto Rico.
