Abstract Submission - Special Characters

Do not use non-standard characters (see below) or formatting (bold, underline, italics) as it will not convert properly.

Due to the limitations of the internet, certain characters may not transmit properly. Please consult the following table for known problems and suggested solutions:

NOTE:
If you choose to cut and paste the abstract from your word processor, we highly recommend that you first save it in plain text format and open the document again with a text editor such as NotePad for Windows or BBE Edit for Macintosh before copying and pasting. This will help you spot any problem characters in your abstract.

Double quotation marks " Do not use double quote marks anywhere on the following forms. They will cause errors to occur and your abstract WILL NOT BE REVIEWED!
Degree symbols ° Spell out word or use "deg."
Super or subscript text O2 or O2 Place text normally (e.g. CO2 instead of CO2)
Copyright, trademark, and register symbols © ™ ®

Use:

(c) for copyright
(tm) for trademark
(r) for registered

Plus/minus symbol ± Use a plus sign followed by a minus sign "+-" or "+/-"
Less-than or equal symbol Use a less than sign followed by an equal sign "<="
Greater-than or equal symbol Use a greater than sign followed by an equal sign ">="
Accented, tilded, and umlauted characters á ñ ü Use the plain text version of the character in question
Greek characters γ Use the english equivalent - gamma
    Instead of IFN-γ use for example "IFN-g" or "IFN-gamma"
     
  α Use the english equivalent - alpha
     
  β Use the english equivalent - beta
     
  etc...
