Collaborative Stage

Note 1: The IPI has been developed for lymphomas and predicts outcome based on the following adverse factors:
    Age more than 60 years
    Stage III or IV
    Number of extranodal sites involved more than 1
    Patient's performance status (ECOG) more than 2
    Serum LDH level abnormal
Note 2: Record the IPI as stated in the medical record. Do not calculate points or assign risk. Only record points or risk if a physician has documented them. Use points over risk if both are available.
Note 3: There are now three indices/score associated with Lymphoma: The International Prognostic Index (IPI, SSF3): the Folliucular Lymphoma International Prognostic Index (FLIPI, SSF4) and the International Prognostic Score (for Hodgkin lymphomas, SSF5.) Physicians may use these indices/scores interchangeably. If the point value and the index/score is documented, code the appropriate SSF and the other two SSF's as 999. If a point value of 5 or less is documented, but there is no documentation for which index/score was used, code 999 for all three SSF's. If the point value is 6 or 7, code SSF5 (IPS).
